Q: What is an F1B Sheepadoole?

An F1B Sheepadoodle is a cross between an F1 Sheepadoodle (purebred OES and purebred poodle) and a Poodle.

This generation has a higher percentage of Poodle compared to the OES and is known for being the most reliable for low shedding and low allergenic coat traits.

Pups are smart, agile, athletic and biddable.

Puppies will adapt to your household environment and way of life.

We do recommend training these smart little cookies to avoid them inadvertently training you!!

Q: Can I breed my puppy when it gets older?

No. We only sell our puppies as pets and do not sell with breeding rights. A legally binding 'no breeding / desexing contract' will be in place. Penalties (financial and return of the dog and puppies) apply. This is clearly stipulated on our website and reaffirmed throughout the process including initial communication, puppy offer / deposit, and puppy sales agreement / contract. Any breach will be pursued through legal channels.

Q: Are our breeding dogs health tested?

Yes, our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive testing before joining our program.

All our breeding dogs are:

- hip & elbow scored with good results
- DNA tested using Embark (USA) for over 250 hereditary diseases
- temperament tested using Volhard puppy aptitude test
- regularly vet health checked, vaccinated and treated for parasites

What health guarantee do your puppies include?

Accepted Answer

Yes — your puppy comes with a 2 year genetic health guarantee. It covers genetic diseases that are testable by Embark at the time of testing, plus significant life-altering congenital illness diagnosed within the first 12 months. The details are set out in our Puppy Sales Agreement, and both you and we sign it before puppy pick-up or transport.

What happens if you can no longer keep your dog?

If you ever can’t keep one of our dogs, you must return them to us, no matter their age or the reason. This is written into our puppy sales agreement before you take your puppy home. We do this because we never want one of our pups to end up in a shelter, and the agreement explains the full process and expectations for both sides.

What is the price of a Bertana Sheepadoodle puppy?

Our puppies cost $5,000. Your puppy goes home microchipped, with their first vaccination and a full vet health check completed. You also receive a generous puppy pack, an information booklet, free starter pet insurance, a first puppy intro groom, and access to a qualified dog trainer for a period of time.

Q: How big do mini sheepadoodles grow?

Our puppies are mini / medium sized sheepadoodles. That is, one of their parents is a miniature poodle.

Whilst the ultimate size of our pups can't be 100% guaranteed, we do expect our puppies to grow to a similar size to that of a border collie.

Pups will likely grow to a mature weight of 12-18kg and height of 40-50cm to the wither - as a guide.

Q: Will my puppy need to be trained?

Sheepadoodles are very intelligent and learn quickly.

We recommend that all puppies (no matter their breed) undertake training and suggest puppies are booked into a puppy school before collection day so they can commence training as soon as possible after they arrive to their new homes.

We suggest to start training immediately with basic commands and small doses of environmental exposure (e.g. take pup out exploring with all paws off ground until fully vaccinated) to ensure pup grows into a well adjusted and confident companion.

Socialisation does not mean meeting every person or dog they come across, just being in the general vicinity of other humans and dogs is sufficient.

How much grooming does a Sheepadoodle need?

You’ll need to brush your Sheepadoodle at least once a week, and more often if they swim or spend time at the beach. A full groom every 6 to 8 weeks helps keep the coat tidy and comfortable. We recommend line brushing with a slicker brush, then finishing with a metal comb, plus good shampoo, conditioner, detangler, and leave-in conditioner.

We encourage ongoing communication with all our puppy families and love to receive updates.

We also set up a WhatsApp group for each litter where our puppy families are welcome to share stories, updates, experiences, photos, and ask questions in a safe and private group setting.

How do you apply for a puppy with Bertana Sheepadoodles?

Accepted Answer

All applications are managed through Rightpaw. Once a pregnancy is confirmed, we’ll contact you for a series of phone calls and FaceTime chats so we can review your application and get to know you better. Around week 3, you’ll be asked for your top 3 preferences, and puppy allocations usually happen in week 4. If you’re offered a puppy, you’ll be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit.

What age can my puppy go home?

Our puppies go home at a minimum of 8 weeks of age, and only once they are ready for the next step. Before they leave us, each puppy has had their first vaccination, microchip, veterinary health check, and parasite treatment, and their puppy sales agreement is in place.

Are Bertana Sheepadoodles suitable for families and support roles?

Yes, our breeding program is focused on health, temperament, and confidence, which are all important traits for a loving family companion. Many Sheepadoodles are wonderfully affectionate, intelligent, and eager to please, and some may suit support roles with the right training and environment. Every dog is an individual, so we always encourage careful training and ongoing socialisation.

How are the puppies raised before they go to their new homes?

We raise our puppies in a caring home environment with a strong focus on early neurological and sensory stimulation, gentle handling, and age-appropriate socialisation. That early foundation helps them grow into confident, well-adjusted little companions who are ready to settle into family life.

Can you organise transport for puppies outside the Gold Coast?

Yes, we can discuss transport options for families across Australia. Depending on where you are located, this may include road or air transport through trusted providers. We always aim to make the process as smooth and safe as possible for your puppy and for you.
